Imminent

A luminous foggy day in Oregon. Exploring the woods I came upon this remarkable tree, half covered in silvery lichen, half bearing last season’s copper-red leaves. My original photo did not do true justice to the pure diffused light, so I employed a little digital tweaking to bring the sky back to life. It feels to me as if the picture is saying “something is about to happen”.
